The 2012 Canadian Country Music Association Awards shook Saskatoon tonight during one of the most star-studded events in Canadian country music. Dean Brody set the stage for an outstanding night of performances with his opening number, Canadian Girls; and it was clear from the start that it would be a night to remember for the 2012 nominee. With his most recent album, DIRT, recognized with awards earlier this weekend, Dean Brody received two 2012 Canadian Country Music Association Awards for Album of the Year and Male Artist of the Year.

Johnny Reid took home the coveted Fan’s Choice Award, following his 2012 win for Top Selling Canadian Album of the Year. Carolyn Dawn Johnson went home with Female Artist of the Year and trio Hey Romeo took Group or Duo of the Year. CDJ PERFORMED AT THE 2011 CCMA GALA DINNER

Hamilton, ON (September 12, 2011)- Yesterday was a day full of award ceremonies for the 2011 Canadian Country Music Awards. Two award ceremonies, the Gala Dinner Awards and the All-Star Band Awards & Jam Session ended the weekend but only started the fun. The final round of awards will be handed out tonight at the 2011 Canadian Country Music Awards at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, ON.

The Gala Dinner boasted outstanding performances by Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Victoria Banks, FACTOR presenting artist Chad Brownlee, Shane Chisholm , Terri Clark, Katie Love Hess, High Valley, Jimmy Rankin and The Band Perry. This year’s two Hall of Fame Inductions were held during the Gala honouring Michelle Wright and Bill Langstroth . The Slaight Music Humanitarian Award recipient, Johnny Reid was honoured and also received recognition as Top Selling Canadian Album of the Year.

With 16 Canadian Country Music Awards already lined up on her mantle, Carolyn Dawn Johnson’s current nomination for Female Artist of the Year — a title she’s won four times since 2001 — should come as no shock to her fans.

Or maybe it should, considering that Johnson, who is originally from Grande Prairie, has been on a professional hiatus since 2007.

The show lineup boasts some of Canada’s top talent and now includes multi award-winning roots group Blue Rodeo, Edmonton-born performer Jill Hennessy, multi-nominated The Higgins, and one of this year’s Female Artist of the Year nominees, Carolyn Dawn Johnson. CDJ TO PLAY THIS YEAR’S CCMA FAN FEST

Because country fans are some of the most dedicated and loyal fans in the world the CCMA  believe in rewarding them each year with FanFest! This year’s event will be held in the Ice Palace at the West Edmonton Mall. One of the loudest, most memorable events for the community each year, the FanFest stage sees 16 performers over the course of 4 hours, and you’ll not only get to see them play an acoustic set, but will also have a chance to get their autographs and “Say Cheese” as you pose for pictures. At the FanFest tailgate party, everyone’s a VIP! This event is free and open to all!

CDJ NOMINATED FOR CCMA FEMALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR

The Canadian Country Music Association today announced the nominees for the 2010 CCMA awards at a press conference held in Edmonton, AB. The awards show will take place Sunday, September 12, at Rexall Place in Edmonton and new floor seats have been released today to celebrate the announcement of the 2010 CCMA Awards nominees.

Grande Prairie’s Carolyn Dawn Johnson will vie for the Female Artist of the Year award against Terri Clark, who grew up in Medicine Hat, Victoria Banks, Jessie Farrell and Crystal Shawanda.
