Johnson opens for McBride August 25 and 26, 2012

Carolyn Dawn Johnson is thrilled to announce a homecoming, of sorts, as she opens for the Republic Nashville recording artist this August on the northeastern leg of McBride’s summer tour.  Fans can look for Johnson to perform her hits, such as Complicated, as well as selections from her latest albums Love Rules. In addition to opening select dates, Johnson will join McBride on stage for backing vocals and as a member of the singer’s band.

“When Martina asked me to open for her, she was so sweet and worried somehow it would be strange for me to do both.  I find it a wonderful blessing, and I could not say ‘Yes’ fast enough!” says Johnson.  ”Working with Martina has always been an amazing experience for me, she is the consummate entertainer and beautiful person inside and out. She always treats her band and fellow musicians with such respect, you cannot help wanting to do the very best with her around! She has taught me so much.”

As Johnson started performing as a backup singer for McBride several years ago, she had no way of predicting the chain of events that would allow her to become a gold selling, multi-award winning artist on the international stage.  Since those days, Carolyn has claimed the American Music Award Top New Country Artist, ACM’s Top New Female Vocalist, 15 CCMA Awards and Juno’s Best Country Artist. As well as won the hearts of millions of fans, including McBride herself.

Look for Johnson to warm up the crowds for McBride August 24 at Toyota Presents the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT; as well as August 25 at Cape Cod Melody Ten in Hyannis, MA and August 26 in Cohasset, MA at the South Shore Music Circus.
