Carolyn, I heard you peform this last evening in Saint John,NB. I just want to let you know that, as a person who suffers from depression, this song really touched me. I felt like you were singing it to me. Your friend is truly blessed to have someone as understanding as you in her life. I am also blessed to have those friends and I don’t think they will ever realize what a difference they have made in my life.
Excellent performance last evening (May 15th). Loved when you sang with Johnny! You two sound great together!
Hi Carolyn,
I saw you in concert with Johnny Reid on Saturday, May 19th, for the last show of the tour in St. John’s, NL. I’ve always been familiar with your music but had no idea about this song, until last weekend.
Late last year, my family lost my beautiful young cousin. She had been struggling for so long and her parents tried desperately to reach her and to save her. Since then everything I see or hear relates in some way to her. Last night I dreamed of her, and in my dream we were all trying to reach her, taking turns sleeping with her at night just to make sure she was okay. Everyday I wake up and realize that this nightmare will never go away.
Your song is so powerful and I wish she could have heard it before it was too late. Maybe she can hear it now. I hope that your song touches others the way it has touched me, and that it helps your friend get through the tough times, knowing that there are so many people who care.
I was, it feels weird saying “was” because I still AM a huge fan, but I guess “was” more adequately applies. My sincerest apologies for that! I’ve always rocked your songs
I met you for my birthday (April…prolly 2001/2002) in Salinas, Ca. Anyway, this song…cuts straight down to the truth, expossing all the hurt. I also feel like in doing that, it provides the opportunity for healing, forgiveness and love to take its place. It is a true testament to the fact that even though we may feel alone, there can always be a hand reaching through the fire; if you’re willing to see it and accept it. I’m only a little late with this comment…but me being a shitty fan, I found this song right when I needed it. Thanks CDJ. <3
