Edmonton, AB (August 31) – CCMA Awards producers announced the final performers for this year’s show, to be held September 12 at Edmonton’s Rexall Place and broadcast on CBC television. The show lineup boasts some of Canada’s top talent and now includes multi award-winning roots group Blue Rodeo, Edmonton-born performer Jill Hennessy, multi-nominated The Higgins, and one of this year’s Female Artist of the Year nominees, Carolyn Dawn Johnson.Blue Rodeo – In their twenty-five year career, Blue Rodeo has sold over 4 million records, won an unprecedented 5 Juno awards as Group of the Year, been handed keys to the City of Toronto and been inducted onto Canada’s Walk of Fame. Not ones to conform to trends, Blue Rodeo has made their mark going against the grain. With their twelfth studio album, The Things We Left Behind, they have created a two-album throwback to the record listening experience they had in their formative years. The rebels live on. Jill Hennessy – From busking and coffee house gigs in Toronto, to roles on hit TV shows, “Law & Order” and “Crossing Jordan”, Edmonton-born Jill will be performing on the CCMA stage alongside Martie Maguire (Dixie Chicks/Court Yard Hounds) celebrating the release of her debut CD “Ghost In My Head”. Jill will next be seen in the Canadian film “Small Town Murder Songs” at TIFF and singing the title track from her album “Ghost In My Head” in the upcoming film “Roadie”. The Higgins – Since releasing their debut album, Real Thing, in 2008, The Higgins have made an impressive mark on the Canadian country music scene. They have been nominated for Roots Artist of the Year and Group or Duo of the Year at the 2009 Canadian Country Music Awards and won nine BC Country Music Awards in 2008 and 2009. In addition to the three CCMA nominations at this year’s awards, Kathleen Higgins will be appearing at the Songwriters’ Café. Carolyn Dawn Johnson – June 2010 marked the return of Carolyn Dawn Johnson to the airwaves with her latest top ten single “Let Me Introduce Myself” and August album release “Love Rules” (Universal). She’s been the recipient of ACMA, JUNO and American Music Awards, and has been honoured as a songwriter, recording artist and producer with multiple ASCAP, SOCAN and Canadian Country Music Awards (an astounding 16).
